Fairies or faeries A fairy is a small creature in the form of a man or woman but who is only six inches or about half a foot tall. They have a delicate physique and dragonfly wings that glitter beautifully. Like elves and pixies fairies also have pointed ears. Fairies are a mischievous and fun-loving race and they often tease men by claiming to be able to grant wishes or know the location of buried treasure. Usually this is untrue but they can have a great deal of fun leading the gullible on a merry goose-chase. Fairies love dancing and their flying dances have a hypnotic and beautiful appeal. Generally they are good creatures that tend to live in the woods. They are similar to elves in the way that they roam from place to place gathering food and feasting wherever they halt for a few nights or weeks. Fairies are, of course, magic in some mysterious way and they can be quite dangerous if provoked. Their clans are nearly always ruled by a queen who has tangible magic powers and can do such things as throw a man into an enchanted sleep, transform people into animals and so on. Fairies are friendly to elves and visa-versa. They also relate well to the Dryads and Nymphs of the forest. Cornelius Clifford, at the Sign of the Singing Duck
