Merpeople;

Mermaids and mermen

A woman or man from the waist up and fish from the waist down. The merpeople are said to have a complete kingdom beneath the waves, this has never been substantiated because no surface dweller can actually go and see for himself. Occasionally merpeople will entice unwary sailors into the sea, where they subsequently drown if not saved by their fellows. This seems to be a game played by rather juvenile young females.

In general the merpeople are quite nice and they are commonly seen along the coast of Athon where they seem to get on well with the people of that land. Apart from the obvious differences (they can all swim and breath underwater) merpeople are similar to any other men and women.
